More About the Regional
Once again the Monterey Bay Iris Society is hosting the Region 14 Regional meeting and we are working very hard to make it an exciting and enjoyable event, In addition we have invited the Tall Bearded Iris Society to join us and they have accepted which will make this a great opportunity to meet Irisarians from other parts of the country. In addition to Iris you will get to see a lot of roses and other plants at Brenda Wood’s garden and also at Joe Ghio’s, not to mention all the old historic junk at the Cummins’. Our committees are working very hard to make sure that this is an unforgettable meeting.
Day on the Bay
This Joe Ghio iris (Sib. to Center Ice and Engagement Ring) is the Regional Iris. It has been officially named as “Day on the Bay.” It commenarates this Regional event, the location and this iris. Historically “Day on the Bay” was an annual event celebrating the Italian fishing heritage of the City of Santa Cruz. Joe Ghio’s family and father was one of these fishermen. Each Regional attendee will receive a rhizome. Your meeting memories will go home with you!
